Joe (aka JP or "A scruffy Hugh Grant")

Picture
When Oscar Wilde said “I think that God in creating Man somewhat overestimated his ability”, he clearly did not anticipate the rise of the machine known as Joseph Prewett.

Born in leafy Berkshire in 1979, Joey spent much of childhood shying away from physical exercise and instead chose to build his mental strength at the Bridge Club and master his powers of concentration down the local Riley’s Snooker Hall. It wasn’t until his days at university that JP really started to demonstrate his true potential. However, unfortunately the only University that accepted him after a misspent youth was in the Welsh provinces where competition was somewhat lacking.

Post university, Joe co
mpletely re-invented himself as a "man of steel", specialising in activities which require superhuman stamina; successfully completing three marathons, cycling across the Alps, rowing at Henley and he is currently training to be part of the GB Modern Pentathlon team at the London 2012 Olympics. When Joe isn't impersonating Action Man he can always be found at the nearest Walkabout with a jug of Snakebite (cider/larger/blackcurrent combo) in hand and dancing on the tables to his favourite Bryan Adams song. He has also recently revealed his true identity having been disguised for several years as a Risk Analyst in The Big Smoke - albeit his cover-up was very poor as he was considered to be the scruffiest and untidiest City Boy around.

LEJOG, although clearly a challenge for Joe, will simply be another notch on the bedpost of his achievements, a bedpost that has laid somewhat dormant from other normally associated activities. With his first LEJOG training session involving a 3 day cycle from London to Cornwall, there is no question that JP’s experience and team devotion will make him a pivotal component in ensuring the LEJOG team make it to the most northern part of the UK - he will also undoubtedly be leading the charge to the bar at the after party!
